Students Need Jobs

Searching for a job can seem like a daunting task as a student.

Finding a job may seem impossible especially if you're looking in the wrong places or searching for the wrong types of jobs.

When searching for jobs, it is important that you sell yourself to the employer. Having a bog standard CV will not make you stand out from competitors.
Make sure your CV has everything you want the employer to know about you. e.g.

  • Your unique selling point
  • Previous work experience
  • What you've learned from these jobs
  • Grades - Not too much detail e.g. GCSE's 4 As 5 Bs etc.

For me, when looking for jobs, the most effective way of doing this as a student was using Gumtree. Gumtree is a site where users can search for jobs amongst other things. The Gumtree job search is great because you can browse jobs by location. Also, the types of jobs advertised on these require little effort in applying. (often require a phone call or email to the job poster). You can find a direct link to Gumtree Jobs here.

A number of other websites you should search when looking for a job as a student are below.
